Ok guys I told you my buddy is looking at a Sport Trac Adrenalin because of it’s uniqueness(less than a thousand in Canada).
Now I’m thinking how interesting it would be to drive a car where there is not an identical one at every set of lights. I can’t really think of anything else that would be that unique other than maybe the Hummer H3T since it was only sold for two years until Hummer shut down.
Here are the requirements:
Under $25K
2005+ (a 10 year old car is old enough)
Room for family so no 2 seaters.
under 70,000 miles
can be used year round including harsh winters
Auto or manual doesn’t matter same for FWD/RWD/AWD no real preference

If your friend doesn’t mind looking like a drug dealer/Texan/2005 rapper: The Cadillac Escalade EXT.

>$25K

>70,000 miles
So you gotta spend more than $25K and it has to have more than 70k miles on it?

Doesn’t need to be unique? or does? H3T Alpha would be pimp, but harder to find. I would get a Tacoma myself, but thats just me. I guess you could get a Suzuki Equator, don’t see many of those.
(not sure if sold in Canada) Supposed to have a nicer interior and stereo but otherwise a Nissan frontier.

Greater than 25k?

Not bad.

Does and Yes the suzuki was sold here. I saw one on saturday and was like:
The only one I’ve ever seen.

That was supposed to mean under

under 25K

There is only one answer: the Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet.

The frontier is a good truck and it would certainly get the looks.
![]() 08/31/2015 at 17:22 |

Know a guy that has a V6 Frontier and he says the gas mileage sucks. Like you’d get the same gas mileage out of a 1/2 ton with a V8. The Equator is unique, but not really anything special.
![]() 08/31/2015 at 17:23 |

Not uncommon enough(we have a lot of drug dealers here)

Kizashi?
Ticks all the boxes, good looking, comfortable, room for human beings in the back, and I rarely ever see them.

I have a friend with one, he gets about the same highway mileage as his brother with a Tacoma but the city mileage is a little worse (16 ish). This one is for all you “Boxed frames or GTFAC” types re: the new Tacoma - The reason why the frontier gets worse mileage is because its several hundred pounds heavier thanks to a fully boxed frame.
![]() 08/31/2015 at 17:30 |

Makes sense. What’s the deal with the new Tacoma? Is the frame slightly boxed? I haven’t looked into it

X5 4.8is. Common body style, rare car. This is the STOCK exhaust:

“triple tech”. i.e. fully boxed up front, reinforced C-channel center, c channel at the back.
Pros and cons for each method. I was talking with someone recently who puts a lot of hard miles on their Tacoma with a camper on the back and he says he can feel it flexing and has had to re-tighten the crossmember twice.
On the other hand, the Frontier has much less payload and city mileage but is noticeably stiffer. Frankly, I think they are both inadequate above 1200 lbs payload constant load in the really rough stuff. The Tacoma for flex and the frontier for strength to weight (more weigh on the axles means closer to the GAWR before adding a load).

Ram SRT-10s can be had here in the states for 20-25k depending on milage

Same here. But the gas bill would be deadly and wouldn’t be the greatest in a foot of snow.

You have a point with the gas bill but with a set of all terrain winter tires and 4x4 it would handle snow just fine

I could get the quad cab

No 4x4 on the SRT10

It fits all of the categories above.

Well boy howdy.I didn’t knowknow they did a quad cab SRT-10.

Any coupe or RWD truck would be unique where you are in my book.
![]() 08/31/2015 at 19:46 |

They did but the Quad cab is auto only but still has the 525hp V10
![]() 08/31/2015 at 20:02 |

I see, there’s always a catch. Although personally I prefer my trucks to have an auto anyways.

so it’s a win win. you can have your super truck and bring your daughter along too. Might be time to trade in that chevy of yours

I won’t lie, it’s a bit tempting. Especially since I sold my Buick yesterday.

Sold it yesterday to the guy who offered to trade me a Fatboy a few weeks ago. My wife wasn’t comfortable letting the kids ride in it, and I was bored of driving around by myself. Now I’m in perpetual Craigslist search mode looking for something fun that the family can join me in.

Yeah I could see that. Cruising by yourself could be a good way to get away at times but in the long run that would get boring pretty quick. You better find something quick before you realise that you don’t really need anything and that the money would start a good college fun. That’s not how we roll here.
![]() 09/01/2015 at 10:18 |

If you can get an Alpha, do it.
It's basically a 5.3 Colorado with most of its issues fixed. Actually, that goes for all H3T's...
![]() 09/01/2015 at 10:35 |
|
There is one Alpha for sale locally for $26K with 55,000 ish miles but the thing is brosified big time. All the others seem to be above 30K even with only the I5

If you beat them down a little, you could probably make up the money over budget by returning it to stock. Or as close as you want.

I actually dig that bed cover.
![]() 09/01/2015 at 11:30 |

Yeah, I can always cruise by myself, but ONLY cruising by myself has gotten old. I don’t feel any urge to drop it into a college fund, because lets face it, $6500 is a drop in the bucket. I could easily blow it all on the house though, as it needs a LOT of work still.
The three things I’ve got the biggest jones for right now are a 3rd gen Camaro with a manual trans, a K5 Blazer, or an ‘80-85 Olds Delta 88 coupe. Of course there were a few 3rd gens I was interested in while the Buick was for sale. Now that I have cash everything is either beat to hell, overpriced, or both.
![]() 09/01/2015 at 11:37 |
|
Oh, I like that very much! If that had seat belts in the back and AC I’d be all over it.
If you see a clean manual trans 3rd gen Camaro for sale, let me know!
Or a K5 Blazer, or an ‘80-85 Olds Delta 88 coupe :)
![]() 09/01/2015 at 11:39 |

These are sweet looking but WEAK. Most of them had the 305 and was rated at 190hp at their peak. Unless you can find one with the 350 which isn’t incredibly common those had 245hp and would be a respectable cruiser.
IROC-Z or GTFO
As for a K5 are you thinking like 2wd street truck or offroad beast? I personally like both but the street truck would be more my style me thinks.
![]() 09/01/2015 at 13:56 |
|
Actually all manual trans 3rd gens were 305s, the trans couldn’t take the torque of the 350. I could actually get a nicer 4th gen for the money, which are much faster and better, but they don’t have the looks. 190 HP would be plenty to drive in a “Slow car fast” kind of way. It would also be a big improvement to the smog era Buick, it’s 350 was only rated at 150 hp.
I could go either way for the K5. I dig the off roaders, but there really isn’t anywhere to go offroading around here. I found this sweet 2WD K5 about 45 minutes away from me. I don’t care for the cut springs, but that’s not a big deal to fix. Price seems OK too, it even has working AC (a must in order to bring the family with).
![]() 09/01/2015 at 14:07 |
|
Dude! That K5 is fucking bad ass! You get my vote on that right away. I think I saw that on a Squarebody facebook group I follow.
This is better than a 3rd gen Camaro. 4th gen on the other hand that’s a tuff call.

I sent the link to my wife and she said, “OK. Go look at it if you want to.”
Hopefully he still has it on Saturday, as that’s the soonest I can get to it in the daylight.
